The company also held a variety of special events and activities to mark the occasion; including a marquee lighting and rededication ceremony at its first theatre in Ripon, Wis., a "75 Days of Prizes" sweepstakes and a 75th anniversary black tie gala.

But, by far the most significant celebration activity was the company's "Moving Forward – Giving Back" associate volunteer campaign. The campaign encouraged all of the company's 6,200 associates to volunteer in their communities to collectively achieve over 75,000 volunteer hours by the anniversary date of November 1, 2010. Associates not only reached 75,000 hours – they exceeded it, volunteering a total of 93,101 hours! This campaign illustrates the company's commitment to giving back to make a significant and lasting impact on its communities.

"We always knew our associates gave back to their communities by donating their time, but we were amazed by the response to the 'Moving Forward – Giving Back' volunteer campaign," said Gregory S. Marcus, president and chief executive officer of The Marcus Corporation. "As Ben Marcus, my grandfather and founder of The Marcus Corporation said many times, 'our people are our greatest asset.' That statement continues to live on today in all of our associates."
